Why do people dislike the Chilli Peppers?

Wondering why people don't like the Chillis. My friend recently said she didn't but couldn't (or wouldn't) articulate why. Is it their mainstream-ness? The ambiguity of their lyrics? I personally reckon they're awesome but am interested to know what you guys think.Why do people dislike the Chilli Peppers?
I enjoyed their earlier stuff though now, I don't really care too much for them. I think it's because they seem a bit too generic. They put out decent radio-friendly "easy hit" songs.

i actuallylike them..but everyone has different tastes..i can't stand the muse and people are always shocked and try to change my mind about them..i cant help it lol
I think they're a unique and awesome band...Anyone who doesn't like them is crazy. Their lyrics are amazing, and their overall music is incredible. But different people like different things!
they are very popular.. i used to like them but i've heard all of their songs FAR too much on the radio, music chanels etc, so that could be a reason.
I think it's just a matter of taste, i have always loved them, yes they have gone mainstream it opens up a wider audience, but who hasn't?
You could say this for any musician/band. Some people like them, some people don't. We all have different musical tastes, it doesn't really need an explanation. Personally I just find them alright. Nothing amazing, but I don't dislike them.
